what?
the above picture was taken this afternoon of the inside of the expedition that we rented today to take some kids up to big bear for jr. high camp. can anyone tell me what this button does? the one next to the hazard lights? it looks like one of those buttons that should be covered in a little plexiglass, 3-key-access box, that you should never, ever push.

It's for power steering Amy.
slippery when wet
I beg to differ kevin. That is the ever essential and oh so necessary evasive driving maneuvers button. That's made specifically for losing bad guys, criminals, terrorists and disgruntled Mcdonalds employees who chase you down after your jr highers topple the massive playpen over the fence and into the drive through line.
cory wins. hands down.
Haha I love how definitely paddy said that it was for power steering. ;)
And now for the actual answer...it turns off the automatic traction system. (Our new car has this, that's the only reason I know what it is)
I'd like to suggest that it is the "Drunk-driving Corrector Button," and cuts drunken swerving down so as to prevent nasty DUI arrests.
ok, nathan wins now (sorry cory...you're 1st runner up), because that's what i thought the button did too. that's why i didn't want to push it. i figured it was the swerve off the road and kill all my passengers button.
Ames - I've really been pondering this (my auto doesn't have said button, probably because it's an import). Do you suppose if you push that button, you become something of an ad-hoc highway worker (non-union, of course) and your car begins to lay paint stripes on the road? If you could keep it straight, would be a great service to the elder community ... kind of like the tracks that keep the little cars on the track at that Dizzyland ride.
I do believe that's the button you press in case of jellyfish.
hmm...jellyfish...highway worker...interesting.
